Neat rows of sugar cane provided the backdrop of Claire’s childhood, and generations of her family helped shape south Louisiana’s sugar industry. In fact, her great-grandfather’s iron sugar kettle now serves as the centerpiece of a Louisiana State University fountain, a testament to the family’s multigenerational contributions to agriculture in the region.

While she garnered first-place ribbons for her fifth-grade social studies project on NAFTA and the sugar industry, Claire has since gone on to win much more prestigious accolades, including Writer of the Year from the American Agricultural Editors’ Association.

Claire began her official agriculture career as copy chief at Time Inc.’s The Progressive Farmer more than 15 years ago. She was then editor and writer of the rural life section of the magazine for five years. Since then, she’s continued to write as well as provide editorial and project direction for a wide range of agriculture-focused clients, including the National Ag Equipment Dealers’ Association, AGCO, DTN/The Progressive Farmer, Massey Ferguson’s FarmLife, Corteva Agriscience, Meredith Agrimedia, and many others.

Throughout her career in the industry, on the farm, and in the newsroom, Claire has covered a wide range of farm-related topics, including agribusinesses, farm equipment innovations, and pertinent rural life issues such as health care and veterinary shortages.

For her, TILL is a natural extension of her years-long body of work in ag creative and an opportunity to expand understanding of the global significance of agriculture and the farmers and innovators who power it.
